Usage Note

Conséquence is nearly always used in the plural when listing outcomes: les conséquences de ses actes ('the consequences of his actions'). The phrase en conséquence means 'consequently, therefore'. Sans conséquence ('without consequence') is a common fixed phrase meaning 'harmless' or 'of no importance'.
