Usage Note

Caricature denotes an exaggerated portrait meant to ridicule, as well as any grotesque distortion of reality. The verb caricaturer means 'to caricature'. French political cartooning has a long tradition; the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo is a well-known contemporary example. The adjective caricatural means 'laughably exaggerated'.
