Usage Note
Capable is invariable in gender (the masculine and feminine forms are identical) and is always followed by de + infinitive (capable de réussir, capable of succeeding). It is used in both formal and everyday French. The noun capacité (capacity, ability) and the adjective incapable (incapable) are directly related.
