Usage Note

Boiter is a regular -er verb describing an uneven gait caused by injury or disability. Figuratively, boiter can describe something that 'doesn't hold up' — an argument or plan that has a flaw (son raisonnement boite). The adjective boiteux (lame, flawed) derives from it and is commonly used figuratively.
