Beau-fils has two meanings that context usually clarifies: son-in-law (the husband of one's daughter) and stepson (the son of one's spouse from a previous relationship). The feminine equivalent is belle-fille, which similarly means either daughter-in-law or stepdaughter. The plural is beaux-fils.
