Usage Note
Azote is the French term for nitrogen (N), the most abundant gas in Earth's atmosphere. The name was coined because it does not support life alone. L'azote liquide (liquid nitrogen) is used in cooking and medicine. The related adjective is azoté ('nitrogenous').
