Usage Note
Archive is almost always used in the plural — les archives — to mean a collection of records or a repository. Les Archives nationales in Paris hold centuries of French state documents. The singular une archive does occur in digital contexts (une archive ZIP). The verb archiver means to archive or store for the record.
