Usage Note

Apport covers both an intellectual or practical contribution (l'apport de la science) and a financial or legal one, such as assets brought into a company or a marriage contract. In real-estate financing, l'apport personnel is the buyer's own down-payment, a key term in French mortgage discussions. The silent final -t is never pronounced.
