Usage Note
Appareiller has two maritime senses: to get under way and leave port (le navire appareille demain), and to fit out or equip a vessel. Outside nautical use, it can mean to match or pair items (appareiller des couleurs). The noun appareillage refers both to the act of setting sail and to a set of equipment or appliances.
