Usage Note

Voltiger describes light, rapid movement through the air, most often of birds, butterflies, or scraps of paper. The related noun voltige refers both to aerobatic acrobatics and to circus trapeze acts. It is conjugated like manger (soft g before a and o: nous voltigeons).
