Usage Note
Voilier derives from voile ('sail') and refers to any sailing vessel, from a small dinghy to a tall ship. A person who makes or repairs sails is also called a voilier (sailmaker). The plural is regular: des voiliers. Not to be confused with voilière (an aviary, a bird cage).
