Usage Note
Venger is used both directly (venger quelqu'un, 'to avenge someone') and reflexively (se venger de, 'to take revenge on'). The reflexive form is more common in everyday speech. The related noun is vengeance, and the person who takes revenge is called a vengeur (m) or vengeresse (f).
