Origin: From 'unique' + adverbial suffix '-ment'

Usage Note

Uniquement stresses exclusivity and is slightly more formal than seulement: uniquement pour les membres (for members only). In speech seulement or juste are more common, but uniquement adds precision. It cannot be used in negative constructions the way ne...que can.
