Usage Note

Triangle covers both the geometric shape and the musical percussion instrument (also called triangle). In interpersonal contexts, un triangle amoureux means a love triangle. The adjective form triangulaire (triangular) is used in geometry and in French electoral contexts, where a triangulaire is a three-way run-off.
