Usage Note
Tant appears in many set phrases: tant mieux means 'so much the better' and tant pis means 'too bad' or 'never mind.' It differs from tellement, which is more colloquial; tant is slightly more formal and literary. The conjunction tant que introduces a clause meaning 'as long as.'
