superbe

superb

adjective sü-PEHRB Less Common

Also means

magnificent

Usage Note

Superbe is stronger than beau — it conveys splendor or excellence and can describe people, places, or performances. Like most adjectives ending in -e, it has the same form for masculine and feminine (un repas superbe, une vue superbe). It can also be used ironically in informal speech, similar to English 'wonderful' said sarcastically.

Examples

"Le paysage est vraiment superbe."

Natural Translation

The landscape is truly superb.
