Usage Note
Soudainement is the longer, more formal variant of soudain. Both mean 'suddenly', but soudain is far more common in everyday speech and literature. Soudainement tends to appear in formal writing or when rhythmic emphasis is needed. The adjective soudain means 'sudden'.
