Siècle means a century of one hundred years. French ordinal abbreviations use superscript: le XXe siècle (the 20th century). The phrase dans les siècles des siècles ('world without end') comes from liturgical Latin and appears in Catholic prayer. Il y a des siècles colloquially means 'ages ago'.
