sensibilité

sensitivity

noun sahn-see-bee-lee-TEH Rare

Also means

sensibility

Usage Note

sensibilité describes emotional sensitivity, artistic sensibility, or physical sensitivity (to cold, pain, etc.). In politics, une sensibilité de gauche means 'a left-leaning inclination'. The adjective sensible is a faux ami: it means 'sensitive', NOT 'sensible' (for which you'd say raisonnable or sensé).

Examples

"Sa grande sensibilité le rend empathique."

Natural Translation

His great sensitivity makes him empathetic.
