Usage Note

Affecté covers two senses: emotionally moved or upset (il était très affecté par la nouvelle), and administratively posted to a position (affecté à un poste). In the sense of manner, it can also mean 'affected' or 'unnatural', describing a person's overly studied behaviour. The feminine is affectée.
