Usage Note

Scalper entered French from English and means to remove someone's scalp, as in historical accounts of warfare. In modern informal usage it has also taken on the sense of reselling tickets or goods at inflated prices, though revendre à prix majoré is the neutral equivalent. The noun scalp (m) is used for the scalp trophy.
