Usage Note

Sauvage describes untamed animals or plants (une fleur sauvage = 'a wildflower'), and by extension a person who is unsociable or a place that is remote and untouched. It can also be used pejoratively to mean 'uncivilised'. It is invariable in gender: un chat sauvage, une chatte sauvage.
