Salement is used both in the literal sense of 'in a dirty manner' and, in colloquial French, as an intensifier meaning 'really badly' or 'awfully'. For example, il est salement blessé means 'he is badly hurt'. It derives from sale (dirty) and carries a strong, often coarse register.
