Usage Note

Saison covers all four seasons as well as seasonal periods in sport, tourism, and entertainment (la saison des pluies — rainy season; hors saison — off-season). En saison means 'in season' for fruit and vegetables. TV series seasons are also called saisons in French, borrowed from the American English usage. The adjective is saisonnier/saisonnière.
