Usage Note

Rouge is both adjective and noun (masculine: le rouge, red as a colour). As a noun it also refers to red wine informally (un verre de rouge, a glass of red) and to lipstick (du rouge à lèvres). The idiom voir rouge means to see red (to become furious). The feminine form of the adjective is identical: une robe rouge.
