Usage Note
Recherche covers both academic or scientific research (la recherche médicale, medical research) and the act of searching (en recherche d'emploi, looking for work). The verb rechercher means 'to search for' or 'to seek out', and être recherché means 'to be wanted' (by police) as well as 'to be sought after'. The adjective recherché also means 'refined' or 'sophisticated'.
