Usage Note
Rechange is almost always used in the fixed phrase de rechange, meaning 'spare' or 'replacement', as in une roue de rechange ('a spare wheel') or une solution de rechange ('a backup solution'). It is not used alone as a standalone noun. The phrase functions as a postposed adjective and is useful for describing contingency plans or spare parts.
Examples
