Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, observed as a month of fasting from dawn to sunset. In French it is typically written without a capital letter (le ramadan) in secular contexts, though capitalisation is also accepted. Faire le ramadan is the common expression for observing the fast.
