raclure

scum, lowlife

noun rah-KLÜR Rare

Also means

scraping (literal)

Usage Note

Raclure literally means a scraping or shaving (from racler, to scrape), but its overwhelming modern use is as a strong insult for a contemptible person — roughly 'piece of scum' or 'lowlife'. It is vulgar and should be treated as offensive. The related verb racler also gives raclette, the cheesy dish scraped from a hot wheel of cheese.

Examples

"Cet homme est une vraie raclure."

Natural Translation

That man is a real lowlife.
