Usage Note
Pékinois refers primarily to the Pekingese dog breed, but also to a native of Beijing or to the Mandarin dialect spoken there. The feminine is pékinoise. When used as a noun for the language, it is lowercase; as an adjective it agrees: la cuisine pékinoise ('Beijing cuisine').
