Usage Note
pâtisserie refers both to the shop where pastries are sold and to the pastries themselves as a category of French baking. A pastry chef is a pâtissier (m) or pâtissière (f). French pâtisserie is UNESCO-recognised as part of the country's intangible cultural heritage.
