Usage Note
Prêt is followed by à + infinitive to express readiness to do something, as in prêt à partir ('ready to leave'). The feminine form is prête — the final t is silent in the masculine but pronounced in the feminine. Don't confuse it with the noun un prêt (a loan, as in a bank loan), a homonym spelled and pronounced identically.
