Usage Note
Préféré is the past participle of préférer used as an adjective, agreeing in gender and number (ma couleur préférée, mes chanteurs préférés). It can also function as a noun: mon préféré ('my favorite one'). The verb préférer takes an infinitive complement: je préfère manger tôt ('I prefer to eat early').
