Usage Note

Propos is most often used in the plural to mean words spoken or remarks made: tenir des propos blessants ('to make hurtful remarks'). The prepositional phrase à propos de means 'about, regarding', and the standalone à propos (without de) means 'by the way' or 'timely'. The final 's' is always silent.
