Also means
precipitation (weather)
Usage Note
Précipitation most commonly appears in the plural précipitations in weather forecasts to mean rainfall or precipitation. In the singular it means hurried, reckless haste (agir avec précipitation). The verb is se précipiter (to rush, to hurl oneself). Beware the false-friend overlap: English 'precipitation' covers both senses, as does French.
Examples
"Des précipitations sont prévues pour demain."
Natural Translation
Precipitation is forecast for tomorrow.
