Usage Note
Plan covers both a scheme or strategy (un plan d'action = an action plan) and a physical map or diagram (un plan de ville = a city map, un plan d'appartement = a floor plan). In informal speech, c'est un bon plan means 'it's a good tip' or 'a good deal'. Premier plan means 'foreground'; au second plan means 'in the background'.
