Usage Note

Performance is a borrowing from English and is used in French both for a performing arts sense (a live show) and, increasingly, in business and sports for measurable output or achievement. The adjective performant ('high-performing, efficient') is a very common false friend — English has no direct equivalent and learners often calque it incorrectly as 'performant' in English. Haute performance translates to 'high performance'.
