Usage Note

Nostalgique can also function as a noun (un nostalgique des années 80, 'a nostalgic fan of the 80s'). The noun nostalgie (f) was coined in the 18th century to describe homesickness; its meaning broadened to longing for any past era. Both masculine and feminine use the same form nostalgique.
