Usage Note
Million in French is a noun, not a simple number word, so it requires de before the noun it quantifies: un million de personnes (one million people), not un million personnes. This de is also required with milliard (billion) and millier (thousand, approximately).
Examples
"La ville compte deux millions d'habitants."
Natural Translation
The city has two million inhabitants.

The city counts two millions of-inhabitants
