Usage Note

Matos is a familiar/slang shortening of matériel and is widely used among young speakers to mean equipment of any kind — camera gear, music equipment, sports kit, etc. It is invariable (no plural -s change in speech) and should be avoided in formal writing. T'as tout ton matos? means 'Have you got all your gear?'
