makeover
Usage Note
Lifting is an anglicism fully adopted into French, referring to a surgical facelift or, figuratively, any cosmetic renovation. Faire un lifting can mean to have cosmetic surgery or to give something a fresh look — politicians talk about le lifting d'une image (an image makeover). The French medical alternative is rhytidectomie, but it is rarely used outside specialist texts.
Examples
"Elle a subi un lifting il y a deux ans."
Natural Translation
She had a facelift two years ago.
