Label is a direct borrowing from English and is masculine in French. It is used both for the sticker or tag on a product and, very commonly in the music industry, for a record label. A quality-certification tag (such as on artisan food) may also be called a label de qualité. The native French alternative for a clothing tag is étiquette.
