junior
junior
adjective ZHUE-nyohr Rare
Origin: Latin junior (younger)
Usage Note
Junior is invariable in French — it does not change for gender or number (les équipes junior). It is common in sport to designate an age category, in business to mark a lower-ranked position (consultant junior), and after a name to distinguish son from father (Robert Dupont Junior). The antonym is senior.
