Usage Note
Intensifier is a regular -er verb; like all verbs ending in -fier it retains the i throughout conjugation. It is often reflexive: s'intensifier means 'to grow more intense' and is commonly used for storms, conflicts, or feelings — les combats s'intensifient ('the fighting is intensifying'). The noun is intensification (f).
