Usage Note
Inhibition in French carries both its psychological sense (an unconscious restraint on impulse or behaviour) and its biochemical sense (the blocking of an enzyme or reaction). Psychologically, lever ses inhibitions means 'to overcome one's inhibitions'. The adjective inhibé describes a person who is inhibited or repressed.
