Usage Note
Inconvenant describes behaviour or language that is socially inappropriate or offensive to propriety. The feminine form is inconvenante. It is more formal than grossier ('vulgar') and implies a breach of accepted social norms rather than outright rudeness. The noun inconvenance refers to the impropriety itself.
