Idem is borrowed directly from Latin and used in French to avoid repetition, meaning 'the same as above' or 'likewise'. It appears in lists, footnotes, and informal conversation. Idem pour moi ('same for me') is a common spoken shorthand. It is invariable and used regardless of gender or number.
