granary
Usage Note
Grenier originally meant a grain store (grange is the broader barn), and that sense survives in regional use. Today it most commonly means the attic of a house. Monter au grenier (to go up to the attic) is a common expression for rummaging through old stored things. A grenier à foin is a hayloft.
