Usage Note

Grave describes a serious situation or a solemn tone, cognate with English 'grave'. In informal spoken French, c'est pas grave (short for ce n'est pas grave) is extremely common and means 'no worries' or 'it doesn't matter'. In music, une note grave is a low note.
