crazy (slang)
Usage Note
Givré literally means covered in frost or rime ice (un pare-brise givré = a frosted windscreen), but in colloquial French it is a popular slang word for 'crazy' or 'nuts', similar to cinglé or fou. A sorbet givré is a sorbet served inside its own hollowed-out fruit shell, a classic French dessert presentation. The feminine form is givrée.
